State Class AA Girls Track and Field Highlights
An hour delay to the meet due to an accident on I-94 didn’t stop athletes from the northwest suburbs from excelling at the state class AA girls track and field meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
Park Center’s Laubenra Ben anchored the Pirates’ 4 x 200 relay to a state title. Shadaizhalynn Chatman, Laubental Ben, and Shynika Chatman also were on the relay team.
Laubenra Ben was also second in the 400 meters, third in the 200 meters, and fourth in the triple jump to help the Pirates to ninth place as a team.
Wayzata’s 4 x 800 relay team of Grace Weber, Grace Mignone, Grace Link and Teegan Anderson won the state title.
The Trojans’ Mara Braun placed third in the triple jump, helping Wayzata to seventh place in the team standings.
Champlin Park’s Adison Kapitzke (discus) and Sydney Drevlow of Hopkins (800 meters) placed second at the meet.
The girls and boys meets were separate this season due to COVID-19.
