Section 6AAA Track and Field Highlights
Athletes from the northwest suburbs fared very well at the Section 6AAA track and field finals at Wayzata High School.
The Wayzata girls and boys won team titles, with Armstrong taking second in the boys team competition.
Among the individual highlights:
Jaxon Howard of Cooper won the shot put and discus titles.
Armstrong’s Noah Breker won the 1600 and 3200 meters.
Wayzata’s boys swept the relay titles, winning all four races.
Jack Helmich of Wayzata won the pole vault.
Armstrong’s Peyton Newbern won the high jump while teammate Jordan McClom won the long jump.
Grace Weber of Wayzata won the 800 meters.
Sydney Drevlow of Hopkins took the 1600 meters.
Abbey Nechanicky of Wayzata won the 3200 meters.
Lillian Wanzek of Hopkins captured the 100 hurdles race.
Allie Barrett of Wayzata won the 300 hurdles.
Wayzata’s girls won three of the four relays.
Clea Cesare of Armstrong won the triple jump.
Katie Kelzenberg of Wayzata won shot put.
Emma Coen-Pesch of Hopkins won the discus title.
Kalea Dale of Wayzata won the pole vault.
