Providence Academy Girls Basketball Routs Jordan, Heads Back to State
For a fifth consecutive season, the Providence Academy girls basketball team captured the Section 5AA championship and is heading back to the Class AA state tournament.
The Lions took down Jordan, 101-84 in the 5AA title game held at Augsburg University.
Providence Academy was led by Maddyn Greenway, who put up 35 points, but it was a balanced scoring effort offensively from the Lions as five total players scored in double figures.
Ari Peterson scored 24 points; both Hope Counts and Brooke Hohenecker added 13 and Emma Millerbernd chipped in 12.
The Lions are now 25-4 on the year and earned the #1 seed in the Class AA state tournament.
Providence Academy will face off against Perham in the state quarterfinals on Wednesday at 6:00 PM at Williams Arena.
