Park Center Girls Basketball Loses in Overtime in Section Semifinal
The Park Center girls basketball team lost a heartbreaker, falling to Mounds View 69-67 in overtime in the Section 5AAAA semifinals Friday.
Kate Roeber hit a three-pointer for Mounds View with just over 20 seconds left in overtime to provide the winning basket for the Mustangs.
Mounds View led 31-27 after a back-and-forth first half.
Park Center went on a 6-0 run to start the second half to grab the lead, and it stayed close throughout.
Park Center was up by three with just over three minutes to play, and the game was tied 61-61 at the end of regulation.
Park Center’s Jaliyah Diggs gave her team a five-point lead in overtime before the Mustangs rallied.
Diggs had 20 points and Marian Alowonle 15 to lead Park Center.
Roeber scored 27 and Bria Stenstrom 23 to lead Mounds View.
Mounds View now meets Maple Grove for the Section 5AAAA title Thursday.
Park Center finishes the season with a 15-13 record.
