Park Center Girls Basketball Falls to Stillwater in State Opener
The Park Center girls basketball team didn’t fare well in their state tournament opener.
The Pirates lost to Stillwater 82-52 in the class AAAA quarterfinals Wednesday at Williams Arena.
Stillwater took control early, jumping out to an early 18-4 lead.
The Pirates battled back but still trailed by 13 points at halftime.
Park Center made a push to get within nine points early in the second half, but the Ponies pulled away from there.
Alex Pratt had 23 points and six assists for the Ponies, with Liza Karlen adding 19 points and 15 rebounds.
Adalia McKenzie had 18 points and 8 steals for Park Center, but made just 6 of 22 shots from the field.
The Pirates play Cambridge-Isanti in the consolation semifinals Thursday morning at 10:00 at Concordia in St. Paul.
