Park Center Boys Basketball Upset by Eagan at State
The second-seeded Park Center boys basketball team was upset by unseeded Eagan 73-70 Wednesday in the state tournament Class AAAA quarterfinals.
The Wildcats (18-12), in the state tournament for the first time since 2005, outscored the Pirates 47-34 in the second half.
Casmir Chavis did his best to pull out the win for Park Center, scoring his team’s final 20 points of the game to finish with 36 points.
Ari Gooch (13 points) was the only other Pirates player to score in double figures.
Alex Schroepfer led Eagan in scoring with 19 points and hit several key free throws in the game’s final minutes.
Charles Birk and Owen Bockenstedt added 15 each for the Wildcats.
Park Center (25-4) drops into consolation play Thursday at Concordia University in St. Paul while Eagan moves into Thursday night’s semifinals at Williams Arena against Minnetonka.
