Park Center Boys Basketball Rallies Past Spring Lake Park
Defending state class AAAA boys basketball champion Park Center didn’t have an easy night in the quarterfinal round of the Section 5AAAA tournament Thursday.
The Pirates trailed eighth seed Spring Lake Park by three at halftime but stepped up the defensive pressure down the stretch to win 81-66.
Point guard Casmir Chavis keyed the comeback for the Pirates, scoring 25 points and starting several fast breaks with steals.
CJ O’Hara added 17 and Jackson Fowlkes 14 for Park Center.
Andrew King had 16 points to lead the Panthers.
Park Center improved to 24-2 with the win.
They host Mounds View in the semifinals Tuesday.
