Park Center Boys Basketball Beats Andover in State Quarterfinals
The Park Center boys basketball team opened play at the state class AAAA tournament with a 92-72 win over fellow Northwest Suburban Conference member Andover.
The Pirates got off to a strong start, scoring the first seven points of the game.
They built a 50-32 halftime leading after hitting 59% of their shots from the field in the first half.
Andover closed to within ten down the stretch but never seriously threatened to overtake the Pirates.
Park Center made an amazing 62% from the floor for the game, and six players scored between 12 and 18 points in a balanced attack.
Casmir Chavis had 18 points and 11 assists.
Chiang Ring had 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocked shots for Park Center.
The Pirates are defending state class AAAA champions.
They will face Eastview in the semifinals Thursday night.
