Osseo Wrestling Beats Rival Maple Grove
The Osseo wrestling team won six of seven matches in the middle weights on the way to a 43-23 win over rival Maple Grove Thursday.
The match was the finale of a tri-meet with St. Cloud; both the Orioles and the Crimson lost to St. Cloud.
After Maple Grove pulled to within 31-23 with close wins at 182 and 195, Osseo closed the match in style.
Two of their best wrestlers, Aidan Wayne and Jake Meissner, moved up a weight to get pins at 220 and 285.
Osseo kept the Droegemueller Cup that the teams compete for each season.
It was named for the late Ken Droegemueller, a hall of fame coach at Osseo.
Maple Grove now leads the all-time series 10-9.
