Osseo Legion Baseball’s Rylee Kara Breaks Barriers
The Osseo American Legion baseball team had a great run this summer, and Rylee Kara made history along the way.
Kara is believed to be the first girl to compete in the Minnesota Division I state tournament in Legion baseball.
She says “That’s an amazing honor. I am proud to be the first. It was really cool earning the respect of everyone at the state tournament.”
She helped Osseo to the championship, and this week was part of the team that played in the Central Plains Regional tournament in Sioux Falls, SD.
“You’d take 100 Rylees on your team as far as teammate-wise, work ethic, everything” said Osseo Legion coach Ben Johnson.
Kara is a champion powerlifter, but a lifelong love of baseball has her pursuing that sport as well.
She says Osseo softball coach Eric Ruska tells her she is always welcome to play for his team, but she plans to stick with baseball.
Kara just completed her junior year of high school.
