Osseo Boys Basketball 20-Year Reunion Put on Hold
The 2000-2001 Osseo boys basketball team accomplished a first in the program when they won the state class AAAA title.
A planned 20th anniversary reunion and celebration of that title in January has been put on hold by COVID-19.
The Orioles had a memorable run that season, going 30-1 on the way to the title.
Their only loss was against national power Oak Hill Academy of Virginia in a showcase at the Target Center.
On their way to the title Osseo beat future Gopher and NBA star Kris Humphries of Hopkins in the Section 5AAAA final.
In the state semifinals, Osseo rallied past future Twins star Joe Mauer and his Cretin-Derham Hall team.
To cap it off the Orioles beat future Gophers star Rick Rickert and Duluth East in the championship game.
The Orioles are planning to put together a commemorative video and do some online things to celebrate the title for now.
The hope is to bring everyone back in-person next December to honor that championship team.
