Osseo Baseball Beats Spring Lake Park in Section 5AAAA Opener
The Osseo baseball team erupted for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on the way to a 5-1 win over Spring Lake Park in the Section 5AAAA tournament.
The Orioles scored in the first inning on a Spencer Pederson single.
The game stayed 1-0 as Pederson and Spring Lake Park’s Benjamin Davis hooked up in a good pitcher’s duel.
The Panthers tied the game in the top of the sixth on a Caleb Tays single.
That’s when Osseo’s bats came alive.
Tyler Rose tripled down the rightfield line to score Rylee Kara for a 2-1 Orioles lead.
Pederson singled home Rose to make it 3-1.
Matthew Kitzman followed with a two-run homerun to right-center to stretch the lead to 5-1.
Pederson finished off a complete game win in the top of the seventh for the Orioles.
Third seed Osseo plays second seed Mounds View in winner’s bracket play Wednesday.
