Maranatha Boys Basketball Beats Providence Academy
In a back and forth battle, the Maranatha Christian Academy boys basketball team edged Providence Academy 77-71 in overtime.
Providence built and eight-point lead early before MCA went on a run and grabbed a five-point halftime lead.
Providence surged again in the second half to go up 61-53, but Maranatha again had an answer.
Down by three late in regulation, Jeremiah LaVelle knocked down a three-pointer for Maranatha to force overtime.
The Mustangs outscored the Lions 10-4 in OT to secure their eighth win of the season.
LaVelle scored 28 points to lead MCA. Matthew Bluford and JaRory Purnell each scored 12 for the Mustangs.
Liam Carney scored 21 to lead Providence.
