Maple Grove’s Adkins Wins 5AA Tennis Title; Wayzata Doubles Team Also Advances
Maple Grove senior Zoe Adkins cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the Section 5AA singles tennis championship beating Wayzata’s Lucy Nabedrick.
Nabedrick had to play a ‘true second’ match against Carli Olsen of Orono and the Trojans’ sophomore lost 6-3, 6-4.
In the doubles championship Buffalo’s duo of Anna and Alaina Lee defeated Wayzata’s Greta Holmes and Tasha Piyabongkarn in straight sets but Holmes and Piyabongkarn do qualify for state as runners-up.
The girls tennis Class AA State Tournament is October 26-29 at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
