Maple Grove Wins Section 5AAA Boys Golf Tournament
The Maple Grove boys golf team shot a seven-under par round of 281 to run away with the Section 5AAA team title Friday.
The 281, paired with the Crimson team score of 293 on Thursday, gave Maple Grove a 33-shot win over runner-up Spring Lake Park
. The Crimson are ranked number 1 in the state in Class 3A and have won nearly every tournament played this spring.
Josh Galvin shot a round of 67 Friday and tied Spring Lake Park’s Mason Roloff for medalist honors with 36-hole scores of 138.
William Karcoc of Maple Grove shot a second round score of 70 and finished at even par for the tournament.
In addition to the Crimson team qualifying for state, Champlin Park’s Noah Vizenor finished with a two-round score of 149 to qualify for the state tournament. Osseo’s top finished was Cole Thorsen in 14th place.
The state tournament is June 15-16 at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids.
