Maple Grove Places Second at State Class AAA Boys Golf
The Maple Grove boys golf team shot a strong 292 in round two of the state class AAA tournament to move up to second place behind Edina.
The Hornets finished 19 strokes ahead of the Crimson to take the title.
Derek Stendahl of Maple Grove was the top local individual, placing fifth.
Jake Birdwell of Spring Lake Park won the individual title.
Bryan Terhaar of Champlin Park tied for 28th place.
Blake Forrest of Maple Grove tied for 32nd, with his teammates Gavin Grahek and Jack Schrader tied for 35th.
Totino-Grace won the Class AA boys tournament, finishing four shots ahead of Holy Family.
The Eagles’ Peyton Savageau finished third overall while Andrew Ramos and Nate Appelhof of Totino-Grace tied for fifth place.
