Maple Grove Nordic Skiers Practice Alone to Prep for Season
Minnesota high school and youth sports continue to be on “pause” through at least December 18th, but Nordic and Alpine skiers are still able to go outside to get in workouts.
Evan Lovdahl and Kalli Smith are two Maple Grove High School seniors who are skiing almost daily at Elm Creek Park Reserve while also doing individual dryland training in preparation for a Nordic ski season they hope can start soon.
Team practices could start as early as December 21st if the latest stay at home mandate is lifted by Governor Walz late next week.
January 4th is the next possible start date for practices set by the Minnesota State High School League if winter sports aren’t allowed to start immediately after the current December 18 deadline.
