Maple Grove Girls, Boys Nordic Ski Teams Qualify for State Meet
The Maple Grove girls and boys teams each finished second at the Section 5 Nordic ski championship meet to advance to next week’s state meet.
Elk River/Zimmerman won the girls title, with Maple Grove edging Blaine by two points to grab the second team qualifying spot.
Claire Swanson of Elk River/Zimmerman won the girls pursuit title.
Maple Grove’s Sierra Krull was the top local finisher, placing sixth.
Abby Hibbs of Champlin Park (7th) and Hannah Boese of Parnassus Prep (8th) qualified for state as individuals.
Blaine won the boys team title, with Maple Grove three points ahead of Osseo/Park Center/Totino-Grace for second.
Lachlan Demmer of Coon Rapids won the boys pursuit, followed by Kenton Prudhomme of Maple Grove and Quinlan Rundquist of Osseo.
Raleigh Rundquist of Osseo also qualified for state.
The state meet is next Wednesday and Thursday at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik.
