Maple Grove Legion Tops Omaha In Gopher Classic
The Maple Grove American Legion baseball team scored two or more runs in four straight innings on the way to a 10-2 win over Omaha North (NE) in the Gopher Classic tournament.
Grove opened the scoring with three runs in the first inning to take the lead for good.
96 teams started play Friday in the annual tournament with Maple Grove one of the host sites for pool play. MG finished 2-3 in their pool with a team from Manitoba going 4-0-1 to advance to Monday’s quarterfinal round.
The winner of the tournament- to be determined Tuesday- will have won nine games in five days.
