Maple Grove Legion Baseball Eliminated from State Tournament
The Maple Grove American Legion baseball team lost 5-4 to Duluth Friday, eliminating them from the state tournament.
Trailing 1-0 after half an inning, Grove scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning on a run-scoring single by Ian Schock and a two-run single from Preston Berg.
Duluth tied the game in the second and then went ahead in the fourth scoring two runs.
Maple Grove pulled to within a run at 5-4 on Vann Olson’s double in the bottom of the fourth, ending the scoring.
Cade Fladmark drove in two runs to lead Duluth.
Maple Grove went 1-2 in their four-team pool which also included Burnsville and Eden Prairie.
The tournament continues Saturday and Sunday in Osseo and Maple Grove.
