Maple Grove Legion Baseball Blanked 1-0 in Sub-State 10 Opener
Maple Grove’s Ian Schock and Anoka’s Brayden Cherrey both pitched gems in the opening round of the Sub-State 10 Legion baseball tournament, but Anoka came out on top with a 1-0 win.
Schock went six innings without giving up a run and Trevor Lang’s RBI sac-fly in the top of the seventh is the only run he allowed.
Cherrey pitched a one-hitter, throwing ten strikeouts and only one walk.
Nathan Schmidt broke up the no-hit bid in the bottom of the seventh with two outs on a stand-up double to centerfield, but Cherrey struck out the next batter to end the game.
Maple Grove will now play in the elimination bracket on Thursday evening.
