Maple Grove Girls Tennis Wins 3rd Straight Section 5AA Title
The Maple Grove girls tennis team claimed their third straight Section 5AA championship with a thrilling 4-3 win over Wayzata.
The Crimson were down early and won two three-set singles matches to come from behind and get the win over the Trojans.
In first singles, Maple Grove’s Maddie Larsen upset Wayzata’s Lucy Nabedrick (6-4, 0-6, 6-4) and in second singles, Maple Grove’s Summer Ode defeated Wayzata’s Tasha Piyabongkarn (4-6, 6-4, 7-5) in a match that lasted three hours and forty minutes.
The Crimson advance on to the Class AA State tournament October 24-25 at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
