Maple Grove Boys Golf Wins Section 5AAA Title
The top-ranked Maple Grove boys golf team captured the Section 5AAA team title to advance to the state tournament.
Maple Grove shot a two-round total of 584 at Bunker Hills to beat out a strong Spring Lake Park squad by 16 shots.
Champlin Park placed sixth in the team competition.
Maple Grove’s Ryan Stendahl won the individual section title, carding a 68 Wednesday in round two after a 71 in the first round for a 50under par total of 139.
Jake Birdwell of Spring Lake Park placed second with a 143 total.
Kagan Kollar of Maple Grove tied for third place. Bryan Terhaar of Champlin Park tied for seventh, with Maple Grove’s Gavin Grahek tying for 10th place.
The state class AAA tournament is June 13-14 at Bunker Hills.
