Maple Grove Baseball Eliminated by Spring Lake Park in Section 5AAAA
The Maple Grove baseball team was eliminated from section tournament play Monday, losing 7-6 to Spring Lake Park.
The Crimson fell behind 4-0 five batters into the game as the Panthers took the lead for good in the first inning.
Trailing 7-1 in the sixth inning, Maple Grove scored two runs on a Tanner Albeck homerun and added three more in the seventh, two scoring on a Nathan Schmidt single but their rally fell one run short.
The Crimson finished the season with an 11-13 record.
Spring Lake Park (10-15) was then eliminated from the tournament by Champlin Park (18-5).
The Rebels face Mounds View for the section championship Wednesday at 6:00 pm at Osseo High School. If Champlin Park wins, a second game will follow to determine the section champion in the double elimination tournament.
