Long-Time Official Bozo Wincek Passes Away
Darrell “Bozo” Wincek, who started as an umpire back in the 1960s and worked thousands of high school and amateur games in Minnesota in the decades since, passed away earlier this week at the age of 82.
Bozo was a charter member of the Gopher State Officials Association, an organization he helped grow throughout the years, supplying officials and referees to Minnesota high school games across the state.
He worked as a referee or official in a number of sports and was inducted in the Minnesota State High School League Hall of Fame in 2015.
Services will be held Tuesday October 5th at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Minneapolis.
