Local Runners Shine at Section 5AAA Cross Country
Although no local teams from the CCX viewing area qualified for the state meet at the Section 5AAA cross country meet, a number of individuals placed well to advance to state.
April Watson of Maple Grove placed second behind Mounds View’s Linnea Ousdigian to qualify for state, along with her teammates Dakota Laux (4th) and Ella McLuen (12th).
Maple Grove’s girls were third behind Mounds View and Roseville, finishing just two points behind Roseville to miss out on advancing as a team.
Zakariya Mohamed of Champlin Park was second to Jacob Brown of Roseville to advance to state, along with Maple Grove’s Lucas Capistrant (3rd), Champlin Park’s Blake Frazer (4th), Osseo’s Davin Christen (8th), Blake Beaver of Park Center (9th) and Osseo’s Raleigh Rundquist (14th).
Mounds View and Roseville earned the state spots on the boys side. Osseo was third.
The state meet is November 1st.
