Local Prep Hockey Players Excel at Ted Brill Great 8 Tournament
The annual Ted Brill Great 8 Hockey tournament brought together some of the best boys hockey talent in the state together for the weekend.
The Sections 2/6 team won the senior division of the tournament, winning all four of their games.
Local players on that team included Brady Northrup and Hobey Skulstad of Armstrong and Eli Milinkovich and Garrett Trench of Breck. Milinkovich led the tournament with seven assists in the four games. Northrup scored four goals to go along with an assist, Trench had two goals and four assists and Skulstad netted two goals, adding two assists.
Champlin Park’s Carson Anderson and Maple Grove’s Tommy Picconatto where on the Sections 4/5 roster. That team finished the tournament with a 2-1-1 record.
A handful of local players also competed in the Ted Brill 18s tournament, featuring many of Minnesota’s top high school juniors.
Some of the players in both divisions will skate again this week at the CCM High School National Invitational Tournament, starting Thursday at the Plymouth Ice Center.
