Local Girls Hockey Teams Skate Into Section Playoffs

The girls hockey season ramps up post-season play later this week with section tournament games across the state.

Locally Benilde-St. Margaret’s is the top seed in Section 6AA and received a bye into next week’s semifinals. Wayzata is the third seed, Armstrong/Cooper fourth and Hopkins/Park seventh in 6AA.

All of those teams begin tournament play Saturday with quarterfinal round games.

In Section 5AA Maple Grove is the number two seed behind defending section champion Centennial/Spring Lake Park. Those teams split their two regular season meetings.

Also in 5AA, Champlin Park/Coon Rapids is seeded third with Rogers sixth and Osseo/Park Center seventh. All of the teams in 5AA play quarterfinal round games on Saturday.

Breck is seeded third in Section 5A.
