Local Athletes Claim Medals on Day 1 of State Track
Local athletes claimed medals in a handful of events on day one of the state track and field meet.
Wayzata’s Khalid Hussein (3,200 meters) and Carissa Travis (discus) won titles.
Wayzata’s Ben Hidani (4th) and Shawn Schindler of Maple Grove (8th) placed in the pole vault.
Madeline Tapper of Wayzata was fourth in the long jump.
Benilde’s Madison Johnson was second in the high jump.
Most finals are Saturday at Hamline University.
