Local Alpine Skiers Advance to State
The Hopkins boys team grabbed one of two state qualifying positions at the Section 5 Alpine ski meet at Wild Mountain Tuesday.
The Royals were second behind boys champion Minnetonka.
Scott Jenson of Hopkins placed fifth to lead the local racers.
Benilde-St. Margaret’s, Wayzata, and Armstrong had individuals qualify for state on the boys side.
Minnetonka and Blake advanced as girls teams.
Sonja Pendergast of Wayzata placed second to lead local individuals.
Wayzata had three individuals advance on the girls side, with Benilde-St. Margaret’s and Hopkins also sending girls on to state.
The state meet is next Tuesday February 11th at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik.
