Lake Conference Cross Country Highlights
As in many sports, the Lake Conference is loaded with talent in cross country.
The top three boys teams in the state class AAA rankings and the top two girls teams compete in the Lake.
The top-ranked Wayzata girls and boys teams lived up to their rankings, each winning team titles at the conference meet at Gale Woods.
The Trojans girls team easily outpaced second place Edina by taking five of the top eight places, led by third place finisher Jazzleen Malherek-Osorio.
Evie Malec of Minnetonka won easily in a time of 17:49.4, 26 seconds ahead of runner up Sydney Drevlow of Hopkins.
William Weber of Wayzata edged Sean Fries of Minnetonka by eight-tenths of a second to win the boys race in 15:25.
Wayzata took three of the first four places on the way to the team title.
