Hopkins Tennis Duo Wins Doubles Title
A Hopkins tennis duo won the state doubles title in class AA.
Rachel Kelly and Maddie Suk of the Royals beat Taylor and Paige Trondson of Mounds View in the championship.
The Mounds View duo pulled out a marathon win in the first set, but Kelly and Suk rolled from there.
They won the match 6-7, 6-0, 6-1 to capture the title.
In class AA singles, Zoe Adkins of Maple Grove won the third place match.
Adkins lost a tough three-set battle to eventual champion Nicole Copeland of Edina in the semifinals.
She then beat Ashley Tarrolly of St. Cloud Tech 6-2, 7-5.
