Hopkins Legion Beats Rosemount at State Tournament
The Hopkins American Legion baseball team won its first game at the state tournament Thursday, beating Rosemount 6-2.
The Flyers trailed 1-0 after three innings before scoring three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to pull ahead.
Jack Mausser drove in two runs to pace Post 320 to the win with Mausser and Charlie Schaefer each getting two hits.
Aaron Aune and Gabe Olson combined to allow just one earned run for the Flyers.
Hopkins is in a four-team pool with Rosemount, Rochester and Maple Grove. Pool play continues Thursday evening and on Friday.
The top two teams in each pool advance to the tournament quarterfinals on Saturday at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville.
