Hopkins Boys Finish Second at State Track; Local Champions crowned in Four Events
The Hopkins boys track and field team finished second in the state Class AA meet Saturday, six points behind team champion Rosemount.
The Royals’ Sam Duffing won the 300 meter hurdles and finished second to teammate George Jackson in the 100 hurdles.
Wayzata’s Jack Helmich won the pole vault while Champlin Park’s quartet of Michael Shipman, Edmund Ocansey, Sherifodeen Bolarinwa and Richlu Tudee won the 4 x 100 meter relay race.
As a team Wayzata finished 11th in the meet and Champlin Park 27th.
The only other top three finish by a local athlete was from Armstrong’s Ezekiel Clark, who placed third in the 100 meter dash. Clark also finished fifth in the 200.
