Good Day for Local Runners at State Cross Country
The Wayzata boys won the State Class AAA championship in boys cross country while the Wayzata girls finished second to Edina in their meet on a good day for local runners at the state cross country meet.
In addition to those teams, Noah Breker of Armstrong finished second in the boys’ race while Sydney Drevlow of Hopkins finished second in the girls AAA race. Hamza Mohamed and William Weber were the top two finishers for the state champion Wayzata boys, placing 25th and 26th overall. Armstrong’s Alex Omodt placed 10th,Tony Provenzano of Hopkins finished 11th and Osseo’s Cade Sanvik placed 24th.
Teegan Anderson was Wayzata’s top finisher in the girls’ meet, placing ninth overall. Elsa Bergman of Hopkins was 11th with Grace Weber of Wayzata coming in 14th place. Lex Davis of Osseo finished in 17th and Armstrong’s Caitlyn Osanai 19th overall. The two Osseo runners- Davis and Sanvik- are the first Osseo athletes to finish in the top 25 at state since the mid-1990s.
In the Class AA boys meet Breck’s Alden Keller won state with a winning time of 15:53.27. His teammate Harris Gulbransen placed 15th. Ella Fullerton of Breck finished in 16th place in the Class AA girls race. In Class A Emma Kelly finished in 23rd place while the Lions’ team finished 13th overall.
