Field of Dreams: Brooklyn Park Ball Field Coming in 2022
Planned originally for the late 1990s, a “hometown ballpark” is finally coming to Brooklyn Park in the next 20 months.
The Brooklyn Park City Council earlier this month approved spending 1.5 million dollars from the 2018 Park Bond Referendum to build the facility at an existing baseball field at the Noble Sports Park.
The ballpark would include a grandstand with seating for 400 people along with indoor bathrooms, a concession stand, a pressbox, batting cages and more.
Construction bids will be put out late this year with construction expected to start mid-summer in 2021 with the goal of having it ready for play in the spring of 2022.
Champlin Park, Park Center, and Maranatha Christian Academy would all likely schedule some games at the lighted field, along with BPAA youth baseball. Adult amateur teams have also expressed interest in playing at the new field.
