Cretin-Derham Hall Nets State Tourney Win over Wayzata
The Cretin-Derham Hall team lost just twice this season- to Lake Conference teams Edina and Eden Prairie. But the Raiders defeated another Lake team, Wayzata, Wednesday morning 70-48 in the state Class AAAA quarterfinals at Target Center.
The Trojans are in the state tournament for a second straight season but struggled to match up with Cretin-Derham Hall’s size. Raiders senior Daniel Oturu, a University of Minnesota recruit, scored 24 points and added nine rebounds and eight blocks for the top-seeded Raiders.
Jacob Beeninga scored 15 points for a Trojans’ team that shot just 30 percent from the field.
Wayzata (18-12) meets Osseo in the consolation semifinals Thursday morning.
