Benilde-St. Margaret’s Girls Lacrosse Wins First State Title
The Benilde-St. Margaret’s girls lacrosse team beat Edina 11-10 to win the first state title in program history.
Edina jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game and controlled much of the early action.
Benilde scored five straight goals as the half went on to go up 5-3.
Edina then put together a quick three-goal run to re-take the lead 6-5 at halftime.
The Hornets built two-goal leads a couple of times in the second half, but the Red Knights closed strong to earn the win.
Maggie Graczyk had three goals and two assists for BSM, scoring the goal that put them ahead for good.
Charlize Vang had three goals, with Julia Evens adding two goals and two assists.
Brooke Nelson had nine saves for the Red Knights.
Benilde-St. Margaret’s, the fifth seed coming into the tournament, finished the season with a 17-2 record.
