Benilde-St. Margaret’s Girls Basketball Shooting for State Title
With nine wins in their last ten games, the Benilde-St. Margaret’s girls basketball team is feeling confident heading into this week’s state Class AAA tournament. This is the program’s eighth trip to the state tournament. The Red Knights won AAA titles in both 2006 and 2010.
The Red Knights are the number two seed in the AAA tournament, behind Becker- a team they lost to 84-78 during the regular season. BSM’s other five losses were all to Class AAAA teams.
Benilde is led by junior guard Olivia Olson, a University of Michigan commit, who is averaging 21.5 points, nine rebounds, and four assists per game. Sophomore guard Kendall McGee averages 20.6 points per game.
BSM (23-6) opens the tournament against DeLaSalle (23-6) Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Maturi Pavilion on the University of Minnesota campus.
The Red Knights beat the Islanders 80-67 in December.
