Benilde-St. Margaret’s Football Team Stays Unbeaten
It wasn’t easy, but the Benilde-St. Margaret’s football team stayed unbeaten Wednesday night.
The Red Knights beat Waconia 23-17, with William Petty’s touchdown run providing the winning points.
Waconia’s stifling defense helped the Wildcats build a 9-0 halftime lead.
Benilde battled back in the second half, taking the lead on a field goal by Louie Hyde.
The Red Knights went ahead 17-9 on a touchdown pass from Nick Peterson to Dylan Rash.
Waconia fought back, and Jack Fritz scored on a juggling touchdown grab with six seconds left.
A two-point conversion tied the game and sent it to overtime.
That’s when Petty’s 10-yard touchdown run won it for BSM.
The Red Knight finished the regular season at 8-0.
They are the number one seed for the Section 5AAAA playoffs.
