Benilde-St. Margaret’s Boys Lacrosse Falls in Semifinals
Two-time defending state boys lacrosse champion Benilde-St. Margaret’s won’t get a chance to make it three in a row.
The Red Knights lost 9-7 to Prior Lake in the state semifinals Thursday.
The teams had met in the past four championship games, with Prior Lake winning the first two and BSM taking the title in 2021 and 2022.
Thursday’s semifinal was a back and forth battle.
Benilde had a 2-1 lead after one quarter, and the teams were tied 4-4 at halftime.
Prior Lake scored late in the third to break a 6-6 tie.
After the Lakers went up 8-6, BSM goalie Axel Esco heaved a long pass downfield and it took a big bounce to Dylan Parker, who scored to pull the Red Knights within 8-7.
Jack Tocko scored late into an empty net to seal the win for the Lakers.
Prior Lake meets Lakeville North in the championship game Saturday at Stillwater High School.
Benilde takes on Shakopee in the third place game at White Bear Lake High School.
