Benilde-St. Margaret’s Boys Lacrosse Advances to State Final
The Benilde-St. Margaret’s boys lacrosse team advanced to the state championship game with a 9-3 win over Stillwater in the semifinals.
The game was tied 2-2 after one quarter, but the Red Knights held the Ponies without another goal until the fourth quarter.
Benilde scored two goals in each of the first three quarters and added three in the fourth.
Paddy Burns scored four goals and Matthew Dowden three for BSM.
The Red Knights meet Prior Lake for the title Saturday.
The Lakers beat BSM in the last two championship games that were held, in 2018 and 2019.
There was no tournament in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Benilde did beat Prior Lake 13-6 in the regular season this year.
