Armstrong Football Falls to Alexandria in State Quarterfinals
The Armstrong football team’s unbeaten season came to an end Saturday in a 17-14 loss to Alexandria in the state class AAAAA quarterfinals.
The teams were tied 7-7 at halftime after Dawson Franke connected with Gideon Breker for a touchdown pass for Armstrong and Alexandria answered with a Chase Thompson to Mason Gorghuber scoring strike.
Armstrong regained the lead late n the third quarter as Franke threw to Farelle Deline for a 48-yard touchdown.
Thompson scrambled and hit Gorghuber for another TD early in the fourth to tie the game 14-14.
Alexandria’s Daniel Jackson kicked a field goal with just over three minutes to play to provide the winning points for the Cardinals.
Armstrong finishes with a 10-1 record.
