Yummy Tummy Food Truck Will Be at Tater Daze
If a food truck can bring happiness, Lisa Nelson believes her Yummy Tummy food truck can really deliver.
“I want their tummy to have yummy food in it,” explained Nelson. She picked the name “Yummy Tummy” because it made her smile. “I do want them to smile, even starting with the name Yummy Tummy. I want them to be happy for the rest of the day and say that was the best burger I ever had.”
Burgers are a staple of the Yummy Tummy food truck, but the menu changes regularly. Nelson serves up quesadillas, grilled cheese, onion rings and special concoctions that Nelson creates, like a peanut butter and jelly burger.
“People have told me our menu is pretty extensive for a food truck, ” says Nelson. “It’s just thinks that I think American will like.”
For Nelson, cooking up food on a food truck is a second career. She lost her job in human services in 2015 and decided to go back to her first career choice, culinary arts. Now, she’s in her second year of seasonal operation. She insists the food truck business is not as easy or as lucrative as you might believe.
But she loves serving up food that makes people smile.
“I love getting out and I love interacting with people,” says Nelson. “It fills up my tank and fills up my soul.”
