Westbound I-694 Closure Starts Friday for ‘Mega Maintenance’
Some major road closures are coming up impacting drivers traveling through the Twin Cities northwest metro. One of them happens this weekend that will impact drivers in Brooklyn Center.
Westbound Interstate 694 will be closed for what MnDOT described as a “mega maintenance” project.
MnDOT will close more than six miles of westbound 694 between I-35W in Arden Hills and Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center.
The closure will run from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Eastbound lanes will remain open.
MnDOT said the closure is necessary for bridge deck inspections, pavement fixes, storm drain cleaning, lighting repairs and graffiti removal.
Drivers will be detoured to northbound I-35W to westbound Hwy. 10 and 610 to southbound Hwy. 169.
A similar closure will occur Aug. 1-3 when the eastbound lanes will close for repairs.

Another closure starts Monday that will impact drivers on Interstate 394. MnDOT will close the E-ZPass lanes starting at Highway 100 in Golden Valley to downtown Minneapolis. That closure will last until November.
MnDOT said crews will repair bridges and ramps during that time.
Officials said delays could be “significant” and encourages drivers to use alternative routes.
