Time Capsule Will Go Inside New Crystal Public Safety Building
On Friday, students from FAIR School Crystal and the Crystal Historical Society stuffed items into a time capsule that will be opened in 2060.
Why 2060? Because that’s when the city will be 100 years old.
“We thought with the new public safety building going in, something in the lobby would tie the kids to the community,” said Therese Kiser from the Crystal Historical Society.
The time capsule will go inside the lobby of the public safety building, which is currently under construction.
“The kids have really embraced it,” said Gary Nash, another member of the Crystal Historical Society who was on hand for the event.
Students put school medals as well as programs and fliers about the school inside the time capsule. Students also wrote letters about what life was like in 2022, which included notes about the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, Elon Musk, and even inquiring if 3-D printers created ice cream in 2060. The notes also wished the city of Crystal a happy 100th birthday in 2060.
