Friday Night Storm Batters Crystal, Other Northwest Suburbs
A fast-moving storm rolled into the northwest suburbs Friday night bringing high winds and heavy bursts of rainfall.

Hennepin County Emergency Management issued a tornado warning for Crystal until 8:30 p.m. Friday night encouraging residents to seek shelter. Weather alerts also indicated a possible tornado in the Golden Valley area at about 8 p.m. The storm shifted to the northeast with the tornado warning including Brooklyn Park and Blaine.
After the storm rolled through, the National Weather Service reported wind damage in Robbinsdale. The weather observation station at Robbinsdale Middle School showed that a half inch of rain fell in an about an hour span. It also recorded a temperature swing of 18 degrees during that short amount of time.
