Six Brooklyn Park Businesses Seek License Approvals to Sell THC Products
Six businesses are lined up to request a license to sell products with THC on March 1. That’s the earliest date possible that products with THC can be legally sold in Brooklyn Park. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the intoxicating ingredient in marijuana.
Out of the six businesses requesting a license, three are in gas stations, one is a tobacco and vape shop, and the other two are called Love Is An Ingredient.
After the state legalized the sale of products with THC last summer, many cities passed emergency moratoriums so they could craft ordinances outlining licenses requirements and regulations. On Dec. 5, the Brooklyn Park City Council passed an ordinance that would limit the number of THC licenses to 15 per city council district and 45 total citywide. Businesses would have to obtain a license, be approved by the council and undergo a background check.
The city council will consider approval at its meeting tonight. See the item in the council agenda here.
