Rockford Road Library in Crystal Reopens
After being closed for almost year due to construction, the Rockford Road Library in Crystal has finally reopened.
The library welcomed people back on April 8 following a $7 million renovation that lasted 11 months.
The library has new conference rooms (including two video conference rooms that people can use for court hearings and job interviews), new carpet, furniture and solar panels on the roof of the building.
Other improvements include:
- structural repairs around the perimeter of the building
- water management on the site
- replacement of materials that did not meet current building or energy codes
- installing new bathroom tile and bird glass windows
Officials say folks have been excited to visit since the library reopened.
“I have never seen it busier than it was on Monday,” said Stephen Eskro, the patron experience supervisor with the Rockford Road Library. “So many times they told me, we’re so happy you’re open again. And so that shows me that this is a really valuable resource to the community.”
The Rockford Road Library is hosting a grand opening celebration on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will have family-friendly activities, donuts, hot chocolate and coffee.
