Robbinsdale’s Travail to Host Pop-Up Mexican Restaurant
A pop-up restaurant is coming to Robbinsdale’s popular Travail Kitchen and Amusements.
Travail is planning a partnership with chef Gustavo Romero on a Mexican food establishment called Kua, which is temporarily moving to the basement of Travail.
Kua previously had a location in Minneapolis.
“The concept and the food is inspired by corn,” said Travail chef and co-owner Bob Gerken. “What can you do with corn? The power of the tortilla. What can you put on a tortilla, And giving folks a lot of perspective of what you can actually do with a tortilla — and just getting people drunk and eating a lot of food.”
Kua is described as modern Mexican fare with optional drink pairings. Customers have to purchase tickets in advance for their 11 to 13 course tasting menu.
The pop-up will run from Aug. 18 through Oct. 1.
Tickets are $69 apiece and can be purchased at https://www.travailkitchen.com/kua
